The thick, sticky and almost glue-like nature of Aloe Vera gel may put you off using it in your hair. However, it has huge health benefits, cleansing properties and washes out easily once used to nourish and moisturise. Aloe Vera gel is known for being cooling and soothing on the skin, but it has many benefits when applied to the hair and scalp too. Aloe Vera for hair is becoming more popular and for very good reason as we’re exploring below.

Relieve Itching and Soreness

An itchy and sore scalp can become very painful and can lead to constant itching which can be embarrassing. Whether or not you have seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff) dealing with flaking and itchy scalp can be difficult. This kind of problem can easily be treated with Aloe Vera which can soothe the itching. What’s more Aloe Vera is full of fatty acids, and research has shown they have anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is a common symptom of excessive itching and can be relieved with regular Aloe Vera shampoo or gel application.

Deep Cleansing

Aloe Vera offers deep cleaning to every strand of hair, even down the follicle. The hair follicle is cleansed efficiently, with additional sebum or oil, is stripped away and residue of other hair products is also removed. Many manufactured hair products offer the same process, but they aren’t as gentle and natural as Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is 100% natural and doesn’t hurt your hair as it cleans.

Strengthen and Repair

Aloe Vera is rich in a range of vitamins including A, C and E. This combination of vitamins contributes to cell turnover and replacement and promote cell growth and shiny, glossy hair. Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 are also found in Aloe Vera gel and these both contribute to combatting hair loss.

Hair Growth

Following on from the previous point about growth promoting vitamins and minerals, Aloe Vera is also known for helping to increase blood circulation to particular areas of the body. The includes the head and scalp and washing your hair in Aloe Vera products may slow down the occurrence of breakage and loss of hair in general.
